I. Links to Recognised Maternity and Gynaecology Guidelines

Subsection Editor:  Needed

If interested in the possibility of editing this sub-section volume  Click here

Discussion Links: None specific yet.  Use EEPDtalk at www.eepd.org.uk

In theory all obstetricians should be aware at all time of all relevant local and national guidelines, but these are now becoming so complex that links are needed directly from data (“trigger data”) held in individual electronic records to specific “Action Suggestions”

But this is such a major enterprise that each piece of guidance will need to be teased out in every detail. To see a sample page Click here

That is what will be attempted later in this volume.

The following hyperlinks are to facilitate such documentation

Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG)

NHS Evidence Health Information Resources Guidance Section

(includes links to international guideline resources from USA, Australia, New Zealand)

Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN)

Obstetrics & Gynaecology section

American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)

(N.B. many of their published Guidelines are available online to members only)

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)

II. Other sources of Guidelines relevant to Maternity and Neonatal Care

British National Formulary (BNF) and BNF For Children

(N.B. there’s restricted access to the BNF online: either apply for registration on the website or use your NHS Athens login if you have one)

European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE)

Map of Medicine (“national view”)

(N.B. “local view” information specific to a particular NHS Trust can be accessed via Trust Smart Card or Athens login – but as of September 2010 these 2 versions of the “local view” do not match!)

NHS CKS (Clinical Knowledge Summaries)
